BankAnalytics Dimensions
The BankAnalytics analysis database is comprised of two major
component types: cubes and dimensions.
Cubes are the actual storage medium, whereas dimensions merely serve
to define the "shape" of the storage cubes, and most importantly,
the types of business measures available from the cubes. A special
dimension, "Measures", defines the business metrics or KPIs that a
particular cube provides. By integrating and leveraging the bank's
existing systems (e.g. General Ledger, FTP, ABC, RAROC, CIF),
BankAnalytics presents an array of measures and metrics for
analysis. The
Measures At-a-Glance
page takes a detailed look at General Ledger, Account, Costing, Risk
Management and Profitability metrics.
In addition to the Measures dimension, a BankAnalytics cube consists
of several business dimensions, along which analysis can be
performed.
The following diagram provides an overview of the primary business
dimensions that BankAnalytics creates and updates during its data
and metadata maintenance routines, as well as the hierarchical
levels within these dimensions. These business dimensions, along
with the specialized Measures dimensions, form the basis of all
BankAnalytics cubes. Note that these are the "default" levels and
names, and can easily be tailored during the BankAnalytics
installation process.

A fundamental benefit of BankAnalytics is the ability to recognize
trends at consolidated levels, and then effortlessly "zoom in" to
low-level detail using any of the desired business dimensions. This
insight provoking capability exists not only on traditional business
dimensions like Time and Product, but also on highly focused banking
parameters like Officer and Customer Account. |
